Metal roof quotes in Torrance, CA
A metal roof costs roughly double a shingle roof and lasts roughly three times as long. Whether that is a good trade depends entirely on how long you are staying.
Describe the metal roofing job
Three questions, then the address. Up to three Torrance contractors who do this work.
You are on the list.
No provider in Torrance is taking requests through this service yet. We are lining them up, and yours is kept until one can.
- Nobody gets your details yet. Your request stays with us and is not passed to any company.
- One email when someone can help. When a provider covering your area can take it on, we email you once and ask whether you want that company, by name, to contact you.
- Deleted after 90 days. If nobody can take it on, or you do not say yes, your contact details are deleted 90 days after your request.
- You decide, or you do not. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to pay us.
Nobody will call you about this request unless you say yes to a company by name.
Before you let anybody on the roof
The things worth pinning down on a metal roofing job. A contractor who has not raised them has not looked properly.
- Standing seam or exposed fastener, and why
- How the panels are allowed to expand and contract
- Whether the crew installs metal regularly or occasionally
- Panel gauge and the coating warranty
- How valleys, ridges and penetrations are detailed
A light-coloured metal roof reflects a serious amount of heat, which shows up on a summer power bill in hot climates.
Standing seam hides its fasteners under the seam. Exposed-fastener panel is cheaper and relies on hundreds of neoprene washers that have to be revisited every decade or so.
Not every roofer installs metal, and the ones who do it badly do it badly in ways you cannot see for five years.
Locally
The second problem is the autumn offshore winds, which find anything already loose. These winds are not constant, which is the problem. A roof gets nine quiet months and then one night at fifty miles an hour, and whatever was marginal goes.
About metal roofing here
How long should a roof last here?
Rated life and real life are different numbers. Here, salt and sun together tend to take the low end of any rated life. Ventilation and the quality of the installation move that more than the brand does.
What happens to my information?
Your details are passed to up to three local roofing contractors so they can quote. That is the only use. You can ask us to delete them at any time, and there is a do-not-sell page for exactly that.
Do you cover the whole Los Angeles County area?
Yes. The contractors we match on cover Torrance and the surrounding towns, so if you are just outside the city limits it still works.
Why does ventilation keep coming up?
Because a badly ventilated attic cooks the roof from underneath and takes years off it. Intake at the eaves and exhaust at the ridge, in balance. It is cheap during a re-roof and awkward afterwards.
Ready for a real number?
Free, no obligation, and your details go to no company until you say yes.
